School News

While the Alsea Youth Lapidary Club isn't technically a school, everyone in it, including Jerry and Juli, learns something with every session.  Between 40 and 60 kids, ages 10-18, participate in the program during the school year and summer sessions.  We teach faceting, cabochon making, basic silversmithing, and jewelry design and manufacture.  Classes and sessions are conducted with respect for each other, for the material being worked, and for the machines being used.  

The rough material used in the progam has all been donated, so there's no cost to the kids except for beads and silver used in jewelry making.

We encourage interested adults in the area to drop in during a scheduled session to learn more about what we do.
